– Registered Psychotherapist –
“A world where every person feels loved, secure, and free to be themselves.”
My name is Kathleen Panela-Seguin. I am a registered psychotherapist passionate about supporting others in their life journey. As a graduate of psychology and music from the University of Guelph in Ontario and Capilano University in British Columbia, I have been working as therapist since 1994, helping children, adults and families find tools and strategies to grow and thrive.
In my 25 years of experience as a therapist, I’ve seen first-hand how important it is for everyone – regardless of age – to be able to communicate about their feelings openly. Feeling heard when you do so is equally crucial.
Many behavioural issues are created or worsened by unmet emotional needs. If these remain unaddressed, the problem behaviour can’t be resolved.
Restoring balance and peace in your life
As an adult you have an overwhelming amount of responsibility, already! Sometimes that means you put yourself last. It’s time to put yourself first. You can create some space. It’s okay to give yourself permission to ask for help. You are not alone.
You need a safe space to express yourself, free from judgement. I will help you so you can articulate what challenges you are facing. Together we determine how this is affecting you – your body, your health, your overall well-being. Then we create a small inspired action step towards attaining more peace and balance in your life.
As an adult you think that you have lived through enough but it is not necessarily the case. Sometimes you need someone to talk to and to help you identify what you need.
Restoring balance and peace in your child’s life:
Giving children a loving and safe place will encourage them to express themselves and their emotions.
Fostering engagement and communication between parent and child is so important. I see a lot of parenting advice that emphasizes consistent punishments and rewards as the best method to deal with problem behaviour.
While well-intentioned, this can actually be harmful! It definitely doesn’t make the child feel any better, and it often makes parents feel like they’ve failed somehow.
The truth is, it’s not your fault, and it’s not your child’s fault either. Every relationship has its sticking points and difficulties…some are just harder to work through.
That’s where I can help. By using music, art, play, and talk therapy I create a safe place for children to understand and express their emotions without judgement. This lets parents understand what’s happening in their child’s inner world, making communication much simpler and easier.
I believe in a world where every child feels loved, secure and free to be themselves.
In order for that to happen, they need appropriate support, and to feel heard and valued. If they are, they will grow into healthy adults and create the good in the world that we so need.

“I felt very overwhelmed. I have space to think clearly now.”
“My mind is calm.”
